After much anticipation, iOS5 has been released for both the iPhone and iPad and Apple costumes all over the world have been able to enjoy a range of brand new exciting features.
With so many new updates, many of you are probably struggling to find them all, so we thought we would help out.
Here are 10 features which Eclipse feel every iPhone or iPad user should be taking advantage of straight away :-
*Please note, some of these features may not be available on the iPad.
1. Swipe to see your camera roll
Photos that you have just taken are now just one swipe away from your camera. Simply swipe left after taking a photograph to access your camera roll and show others what you just captured in seconds.
2. Create better photos with grids
If you struggle with getting your photos straight or level with the horizon, then the new grid feature is something you'll be keen to take advantage of. Navigate to your camera, click options at the top and slide the grid to 'on'.
3. Organise your photos with folders
You can now easily organise all of your photographs to make finding them again simple. Browse to your photo app, click albums and then edit. You will then see the option to add an album in the top left hand corner.
To move photos from an existing album to a new one, click the 'move' icon in the top right hand corner when viewing the thumbnails of your photos, tap to select the photos you want to move, and then click 'add to existing album'.
4. Never forget again with locational based reminders
You can now specify a reminder to go off when you either leave or enter a certain area, which we've found ideal for ensuring you remember everything you need for an important event such as a meeting.
Click on the new 'reminders' app, then add a new reminder. Once you have done this, it will appear in your reminders list. Tap it again and you will see the option 'remind me'. Tap once more and then switch 'at a location' to one. you will then be presented with a range of useful options.
5. Control how your notifications appear
With the new alert centre, you can now customise the way in which your notifications appear. Browse to settings > Notifications > Messages to see a range of useful options. You will also find that they are now viewable in the lock screen if you have the option selected.
6. Take photos with the volume button
Before this update was introduced you would often find yourself dangerously juggling your iphone in your hand trying to find an angle that meant you could capture a moment and tap the 'take photo' button at the same time. This has now been made a lot easier with the addition of The + as a second shutter release button. Turn your iphone side on and simply click the + volume button to take a photograph.
7. Type faster with keyboard shortcuts
If you have terms or sentences that you find yourself wasting your time typing out every time you send a text, you can now make simple shortcuts for them. Three words can be condensed to three letters, making typing long sentences and phrases you regularly use extremely fast.
To add new shortcuts go to your settings > General > Keyboard then scroll down to find the shortcuts options.
When you type the shortcut the full phrase will then appear as a suggestion when you are typing.
8. Read messages easily by hiding the keyboard
The keyboard used to be a problem for iPhone users as once it was selected in messages it was then impossible to hide again. Luckily this has now changed and can be hidden easily by tapping above the keyboard in the messages area and sliding down.
9. Lock screen camera shortcut
Your lock screen now has its own shortcut button, which takes you straight to the camera application. When the lock screen is visible, double click the main iphone button and a shortcut to the camera will appear next to the unlock slider, making it easier to capture moments before they are over. You will also notice inline music controls too.
10. Swipe down for notifications
When on your desktop, swiping from top to bottom brings down your notification center where you can quickly read everything that is happening with your messages and social hubs. It also shows local weather which is updated hourly and stock prices.
